JVC XM-P55 portable MD player User Comments
What's GOOD
- Very clear and crisp sound. I think this is the best sounding MD portable
ever. Bass is also strong especially when you turn on "Active Clear Bass".
The P55 also sounds good with the attached earbuds. I guess they worked
a lot on "tuning" the audio circuit.
- The big remote with jog controller is very easy to use. You can control
the volume, FF(>> & >>|) and RWD(<< & |<<) with one jog controller. You
don't have to be careful not to push other swithes with your thumb anymore.
The display with backlight is big and can show ten characters. Very well
researched remote.
- With the "favorite track" function, you can register your favorite track.
The P55 memorize the track and the disc, and when you insert the disc,
the P55 automatically plays the track at first and then plays from the
first track. The P55 seems to recognize the disc by UTOC information.
Very wise idea.
- Thin and Small. Long battery life with gum Ni-MH.
What's BAD
- The lid of the battery container seems to be fragile.
- The buttons on the unit are on the side. I prefer to have them on the back.
(like the DMC-G3)
- The bag is not cheap, but too big. Must be the one for XM-R2.
- Still a little expensive (27,800YEN)
Verdict
If you're looking for a good sounding MD player, the XM-P55 is it.
I've put up some photos of the unit.
